Full and Short Paper Submission

Authors are invited to submit research papers representing original, previously unpublished work. All papers must be submitted electronically in PDF format and comply with the ACM format (described here). Authors must make use of the JEMS/SBC system for all submissions. Papers can be written in either English or Portuguese. One author per paper is required to register and attend the conference to present the paper if accepted for publication. The accepted papers will be published by ACM. Full-Papers (between six and eight pages) should report on substantial research supported by complete results. Short-Papers (4 pages) should describe ongoing work and contain partial results.

  • Full paper deadline (Extended Deadline): July 22, 2007

  • Short paper deadline: September 10, 2007
  • Camera-ready full paper: September 18, 2007
  • Author notification (short paper): September 24, 2007

It should be noticed that short papers should be submitted in their final form. It is not previewed short paper modifications after submission.

WTDWeb 2007 - VII Workshop on Ongoing Thesis and Dissertations

The VII Workshop on Ongoing Thesis and Dissertations of WebMedia (WTD 2007) is a forum dedicated to the presentation and discussion of ongoing MsC and PhD work in the areas of Multimedia, Hypermedia and Web. The main goal of this track is to stimulate debates where students have a feedback for their work and also have an overview of the national research status in the area. The track also aims at stimulating integration and cooperation of researchers giving a wider visibility of the current researches for the academic and industrial community.

All papers submitted to the WTD-WebMedia will be peer-reviewed by members of an Evaluation Committee. The selected work will be presented during the Workshop and should receive feedback from the audience. We expect to favor, at the end of the event, the integration between Universities and between students and professors.

Authors are invited to submit original work, containing the proposals and partial results of their scientific or technological research activities. The topics are the same of the symposium, which can be found here.

Authors must use the JEMS/SBC system to electronically submit their MsC/PhD work overview. Paper can be written in English or in Portuguese, but only the PDF format is accepted. Papers must follow the style guidelines of ACM (see the template here) and should contain up to 5 pages.

The first page should contain the follow information:

  • Title
  • Student name
  • Advisor name
  • Program (MsC or PhD)
  • University / Graduation Program
  • Starting date
  • Expected date for conclusion
  • Abstract

Paper acceptance requires that the student will register for the conference in order to present its work, since the workshop aims at promoting the discussion about the ongoing work.

WTIC 2007 - IV Workshop on Ongoing Undergraduate Research

The Workshop on Ongoing Undergraduate (WTIC - Workshop de Trabalhos de Iniciação Científica) is a forum dedicated to the presentation and discussion of undergraduate ongoing researches in the Multimedia, Hypermedia and Web areas. The main goal is to stimulate the integration of undergraduate students with the academic and industrial members.

Authors are invited to submit their ongoing work, including proposals and partial results of their technological or scientific research. Papers will be peer-reviewed by a Technical Committee and the selected papers will be presented during the WTIC. Therefore, the paper acceptance requires the student registration for the Symposium to present his/her work.

Authors should use the JEMS/SBC system to submit their papers. Papers can be written in English or in Portuguese, but only papers in the PDF format will be accepted. The papers must follow the ACM style guidelines (see the template here) and should have up to 3 pages.

WDTV 2007 - II Workshop On Digital Television

In this special moment in Brazil, where decisions and implementation efforts are being made for Brazilian digital TV. The organizing committee propose the WDTV 2007 for bringing together researchers and practitioners from diverse disciplines that include human-computer interaction, media studies, computer science, telecommunications, audiovisual design and management.

In this workshop, invited speakers will present the actual situation of Brazil in this important area.

WDL 2007 - III Workshop on Digital Libraries

WDL 2007 is the third in a series of Workshops on Digital Libraries. The goal of this workshop is to provide a forum for the discussion and exchange of views on the recent development and progress in the digital library technology. We also aim at promoting cooperation opportunities among institutions in the area.

Interested participants from both academia and industry are invited to attend the workshop to exchange views and to help define the future directions of the research in this area.

WTA 2007 - VI Workshop on Tools and Applications

Tools and Applications Workshop have been traditionally promoted as an integrating event of WebMedia as a session. The session is an important forum where both academic and industrial members can present their latest tools or prototypes. All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed by members of the Tools and Applications Program Committee. The selected tools/applications will be presented and demonstrated during the symposium.

You are cordially invited to submit works on the topics of interest of WebMedia2007, as listed here.

The papers describing the tools/applications must be electronically submitted through the JEMS/SBC system. It is strongly recommended that authors make the tool/application (or a suitable version) available for downloading during the paper evaluation period. Papers submitted to the Tools and Applications Session of WebMedia 2007 must be original, and can not be simultaneously submitted to other conferences or journals, neither previously published. The paper acceptance requires that at least one author will register for the conference in order to present the work.

The paper describing the tool/application should explain, at least, and clearly:

  1. the tool/application goal;
  2. its architecture; and
  3. its main functionalities.

Papers should have up to 3 (three) pages, including all figures, references and appendices, and must follow the ACM style (see the template here). Papers can be submitted in English or in Portuguese. All papers must be in PDF format.

WBPM 2007 - I Workshop on Business Process Management

The I Brazilian Workshop on Business Process Management (WBPM 2007) is a forum dedicated to the presentation and discussion of technical issues, methodologies, models and frameworks that allow the collaboration between organizations using business process management.

Business processes have recently crossed the boundaries of a single organization increasing the demands for cooperative processes.
As a consequence, new technologies and standards have been proposed to allow the execution of inter-organizational business processes and the development of applications based on the service-oriented paradigm.

Submission guidelines:

    Authors must use the JEMS/SBC system to electronically submit their papers. Paper can be written in English or in Portuguese, but only the PDF format is accepted. Papers must follow the style guidelines of ACM (see the template here) and not exceed 6 pages. Papers in Portuguese should contain abstracts in English and Portuguese.

    Papers will be peer reviewed according to recommendations of the committee, selected papers will be presented during the workshop and published on the conference CD. Submitted papers must be unpublished elsewhere.

Short Courses 2007

Short courses, presented in Portuguese (exceptionally in English or Spanish), should target undergraduate students, graduate students and/or professionals. They should cover topics of interest related to the symposium themes. Authors should submit an up to 4-page proposal for an 8-hour course that should include: :

  1. an abstract,
  2. a description of the target audience, including prerequisite knowledge;
  3. a high-level table of contents with text explaining what will be covered in each topic;
  4. an explanation about the course attractives for the target audience;
  5. authors' biographies,
  6. indication of which author will present the course,
  7. A/V equipment requirements (unfortunately, it will not be available infrastructure for practical labs).

Authors of selected courses are expected to produce a 40-page text that will be published in a volume dedicated to short courses. The text format should be in accordance with the SBC template (download the template [.doc]). One presenter for each course will have its registration offered by the event organization. The symposium organizers will be seeking funding for the presenter from various government and industrial agencies to pay for his/her transportation and lodging. Technically, we can't promise this support, however, in the last editions of WebMedia we could provide lodging and transportation for presenters coming from others states of Brazil.
